FlixBus

In May 2018, German bus company, FlixBus, opened its first connections in the United States, having already established its office in Los Angeles. Famed for its signature green buses, FlixBus is committed to offering affordable, comfortable and eco-friendly alternatives to travel.

The company was founded in 2011, and is now one of the largest long-distance bus providers in Europe. FlixBus is represented by national branches, such as FlixBus Italia, FlixBus France and FlixBus Nordics. All in all, the company has gone from an intercity bus start-up to Europe’s leading bus provider, and offers routes to over 1,200 destinations in over 20 countries.

FlixBus currently offers connections throughout the southwest, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tucson and Phoenix, and plans to add more routes throughout the year. Like in Europe, FlixBus focuses on marketing, scheduling and booking operations, and works with regional, medium-sized bus companies.

The History of FlixBus

The company, now known as FlixBus, was founded in 2011 under the name GoBus in Munich, Germany. The operator took on its final name in early 2013 and, because of the long-distance bus liberalization, launched four daily connections in southern Germany in February of the same year.

Due to the high demand for a cheap travel alternative, the FlixBus network was able to quickly expand its stops and routes. By January 2015, FlixBus and its largest German competitor, MeinFernbus, announced their intention to merge. Initially, the companies operated under the brand “MeinFernbus FlixBus,” but in May 2016, they opted to use the easier to understand name “FlixBus.” In terms of the design of the buses, it was decided to use the signature green coloring of MeinFernbus to emphasize the ecological aspect of long-distance bus travel.

In the following months and years, FlixBus continued to grow. This is partly due to the development of new international markets as well as the acquisition of numerous competitors. In 2016, FlixBus took over all continental connections of the British bus company, megabus. That same year Postbus, an association of Deutsche Post and the automobile club ADAC was also taken over. With the founding of FlixTrain GmbH, Flixbus decided to try its hand at the rail market by distributing tickets for the German long-distance train startup Locomore as well as the Austrian WESTbahn.

Today, Flixbus is present in more than 20 European countries, employs over 1000 people and welcomes around 40 million passengers a year – and the number is still growing.

In 2018, FlixBus looked beyond Europe, and made its first overseas expansion when a small team set up an office in Los Angeles. By May that year, the company opened its first routes throughout the southwestern region of the country, and plans to continue to expand its network throughout the USA.

The WORST company ever. First time it had delay for 2 HOURS!!!! We have almost miss our flight because of them! But we gave them a 2nd chance. On the next trip they where delayed for 4 HOURS!!! 4 HO ... The WORST company ever. First time it had delay for 2 HOURS!!!! We have almost miss our flight because of them! But we gave them a 2nd chance. On the next trip they where delayed for 4 HOURS!!! 4 HOURS!!! No Info from them, no apologies, no money return, no hotline, no compensations, they don't care about their costumers. Absolutely horrible drivers, broken WC on the route Berlin-Budapest!!!

I was unhappy with your service. While travelling from Las Vegas to Tucson on 04/29/2019, the driver gave 15 mins of break in 946 W BEALE ST KINGMAN, AZ - 86401 from 11:41 AM to 11:56 AM. While travelling from Las Vegas to Tucson on 04/29/2019, the driver gave 15 mins of break in 946 W BEALE ST KINGMAN, AZ - 86401 from 11:41 AM to 11:56 AM. Went to grab some eatables from the shop and I was back exactly at 11:54 AM 2 mins before. But the driver left us in between and took all our belongings with him. When my wife requested him to stop till my arrival, the driver told her to get-down and call me and agreed to wait. But when she stepped down, he immediately left us along with our belongings. He left most of the passengers along with us. Immediately I called the customer care, and I didn't even get any other alternatives from you guys to continue my trip till TUCSON and you told to arrange alternatives ourselves and agreed to reimburse the expenditure and raise the ticket. My friend went to TUCSON N freeway stop to get my luggage belongings before 5:20PM which is the actual time of arrival. But the driver arrived @ 5:45PM which was delayed by 25 mins who is so punctual in time and couldn't wait for a min in KINGMAN stop for break. So I kindly request you to reimburse my expenditure which is as follows. Please consider this as a higher priority, since I faced this issue for the second time.

I booked Fiixbus to go to LA and catch an international flight. After 1 hour of delay, I received notification from Flixbus that bus is delayed for 4 hours. I had no choice, but take Uber to the Airpo ... I booked Fiixbus to go to LA and catch an international flight. After 1 hour of delay, I received notification from Flixbus that bus is delayed for 4 hours. I had no choice, but take Uber to the Airport, and fly to LAX from Fresno for 382$, otherwise my vacation would be completely ruined. When I contacted Flixbus customer service, the representative refused to make ANY compensations. Its my second experience of how unreliable and irresponsible this bus company. You get, what you paid for!

First time booking with this service. I arrived at the Austin Airport and the directions were not very clear as to where one should catch the bus. There are 2 terminals the main and the South terminal ... First time booking with this service. I arrived at the Austin Airport and the directions were not very clear as to where one should catch the bus. There are 2 terminals the main and the South terminal. Arrived in sufficient time to find the location. There is no signage and the directions are very poor. I contacted customer service and was told the bus was going to be late and that I would receive an email indicating the time in which the bus would arrive however he could not tell me where the actual pickup was located. I then proceeded to drive between both terminals attempting to find the actual stop talking with several employees who stated they’ve never seen the bus and wasn’t aware of a pick up location at the airport. I also spoke with Airport Security who stated they were not aware of a bus departing from there. I called back to Customer Service where I was informed that the bus came and departed at 8:30 because someone boarder at Austin Airport although she could not tell me the actual location. Although the price was very economical the customer service was very poor, theirs no signage and the directions provided are not accurate for a first time rider. Needless to say I’ve spent over 2 hrs looking for a bus and the location to board only to be told initially the bus was late and then told I missed it. I still have to find a way back home as well as attempt to get my refund! I won’t be attempting to use this service again it’s been a nightmare!!

The on-board bathroom is disgusting.. NEVER USE THIS BUS. Uncomfortable seats, sketchy people, and bus driver with an attitude.

My bus driver left us at the break. We were ordering the food and my food came on time and my friend's was 2 minutes late. The bus driver decided to leave us although our friends on the bus were telli ... My bus driver left us at the break. The bus driver decided to leave us although our friends on the bus were telling the bus driver to stop for like couple minutes but I heard that he got mad and just left us. As we got out of the store, we could see the bus leaving us and never stopped. We were never refunded the money since they have rules to be strict on "time". They were late to take us at the different location though. It really makes me question the character of the driver. It was the worst experience in bus service industry. I will never use the service again and I would do whatever it takes to shut this business down once I am 7-9 figure earner. Here is the details of the bus ticket: March 4 at 9:45 am Downtown Las Vegas Driver: black guy 6'2 with fat frame black glasses that sounds super stressed out. Speaking really harshly on the announcement.
