We had two train tickets booked with AKMT Holidays for the Kandy–Ella route today, July 22, 2025. We had to reach out to them ourselves via WhatsApp, and they told us we’d receive the tickets by 5:00 ...
We had two train tickets booked with AKMT Holidays for the Kandy–Ella route today, July 22, 2025. We had to reach out to them ourselves via WhatsApp, and they told us we’d receive the tickets by 5:00 am. We never got them.
When we contacted them again, they claimed there had been a mistake and said they’d refund the money.
The result? We traveled all the way to Kandy just to catch this train, and now we’re left stranded, having to figure out how to get to Ella on our own. They’ve ruined a part of our trip.
This is not a simple mistake, it’s part of a pattern. Avoid this company at all costs.

I want to share my experience with AKMT Holidays to warn other travelers about their unreliable service. I booked 4 train tickets from Kandy to Ella for February 27th through their service. They promised to send the tickets 28 days before departure but failed to deliver. After weeks of vague responses on WhatsApp, they refunded me at the last minute when no other tickets were available.
This felt like a scam because they left me without options and disrupted my trip. If you’re planning to book train tickets in Sri Lanka, avoid this company and use trusted platforms like 12GoAsia or buy directly at the station.
