I can‘t really understand these negative commentarys, as I had actually a really nice trip through the Andes.
The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, the route very challenging to drive, and it was all the more reassuring to see that the two bus drivers were driving very carefully and calmly. They were also very helpful and friendly, and even cleaned the toilets after the border crossing.

Pullman from San Pedro de Atacama to Salta. Bus should have left at 8.30 but that became 10.30. The bus kept on stopping at the side of the road every 20mins, as if it was not capable driving through the mountains. Arrived in Salta 4 hours late. This might have been more acceptable if they would have given some explanation, but we just had to sit there waiting.
