megabus

megabus US was founded in 2006 under its parent company Coach USA and has evolved swiftly into one of the big players in the bus industry in both North America and Europe. It has been notable ever since for providing cheap bus travel services between cities with incredible prices – whether the two cities are separated by state or country borders. Bus trips to Canada and Mexico frequently start at $1! Unlike other major bus companies, that solely operate bus trips starting at traditional bus stations, megabus has additionally put its innovative idea of serving at curbside bus stops into practice. This way travelers do not have to wait at crowded bus stations bus can board the bus conveniently at comparatively quiet bus stops which are exclusively served by megabus vehicles. In order to create an all-American bus service, megabus has called on its customers to design buses whose appearance is inspired by one of the US states.

megabus operates well-established bus routes in over 34 states, serving ten million passengers per year. Moreover, it is still expanding its network to new locations. At the moment, 115 cities are covered with a total of over 681 bus connections being provided by megabus.

The History of megabus

The History of megabus

Back in 2006, the company was founded through Stagecoach’s Coach USA subsidiary with the name megabus, an established brand in the UK. In the beginning, megabus focused on routes in the Midwest, linking Chicago to nearby cities, such as Milwaukee, Cleveland and Ann Arbor. A year later, the company began bus routes in the Southwest, with connections in the Bay area and Los Angeles. However, due to stagnated growth, the company discontinued its LA hub, and re-entered this market in 2012.

After its initial withdrawal from the west coast, megabus turned to the Northeast with routes connecting New York city to major hubs, such as Washington D.C., Boston and Toronto. These routes proved very successful and the company continued to expand to cities, such as Syracuse, Rochester and Hartford. In 2009 and 2010, megabus expanded in Pennsylvania and the Southeast. By 2010, the company shifted its model from spoke-and-hub to point-to-point. In 2012, megabus returned to the West Coast, primarily serving San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Reno, Riverside and Los Angeles.

Secondly, he got lost in the city and couldn’t find the terminal. We then had to transfer buses. I paid extra money to sit in a reserved seat which was occupied by another passenger on the transfer bus so I couldn’t sit in the seat that I PAID EXTRA MONEY FOR!!! Lastly, We had to take our own suitcases off the original bus of origin and put them in the transfer bus while the bus driver of the transfer motor coach watched us struggle with his hands in his pockets. NEVER AGAIN!

They changed the pick up location causing myself and 5 others to be left and miss pick up. If the pick up location was recently changed and there were 5 passengers that did not show for their reservation you would think the bus would drive down a block to see if anyone was waiting there. The 5 of us that missed the bus ended up having to drive down. So I ended up not using my return ticket either since I drove. Megabus does not do refunds so I am out $50 plus all the money it took me to get there myself. Will not be using Megabus again.

Today September 21st at 5:30pm my bus was departing from Boston to NYC, I asked one of the people in the staff if I had time to buy something and come back they told me that they will wait for me. I went and buy my items but unfortunately I forgot my phone. I came back for my phone and run back to the gate. The clock just tick on 5:29pm when I arrive to the gate and the bus doors were closed so I talked to the guy and mentioned that I talked to some one and my situation, in the meantime, when I was explaining and looking for the ticket the bus started to leave. I asked them to stop the bus and the person from the staff let me know that once the bus is moving they can’t stop them because you guys will get fined. What they didn’t understand is that I was there before the bus started moving !!!! I understand that you have rules to follow but a little bit more común sense from you people will be a lot of help in situations like this. If we didn’t argue I’ll be able to get in to the bus since it was 1 min before the time. This situation added 3 additional hours to my travel time and a new bus ticket . Terrible experience!

No communication from driver as we sat in hot bus for over 30 minutes. Finally left bus to find it was broken, had to wait for another. Eventually called a Lyft and was 2 hours late for our event. Called customer service, they were rude and the supervisor (Michelle maybe), hung up on me! DO NOT TAKE MEGABUS!!

We paid for reserved seating so we could all sit together (3 of us) - the bus arrived late, and without any announcement they started to quietly board passengers for an earlier bus that never showed up. The driver refused to explain to anyone what was going on during the process and was repeatedly rude to anyone that asked a question. Picture 80+ people trying to push on to a pass that only had room for 20 to 30. After leaving everyone else behind - they were given no guidance on what to do. Some of the agitated passengers left behind fought with pedestrians nearby. Absolute joke of a company.
